Once forgotten and abandoned,
this place is now re-activated.
“Re-space” is transformed from what we may recognize as a “ruin”:
it is not only a complex of old, abandoned houses,
but also, a playground for various life activities;
It is a portal through which we see life in a different light,
and begin anew.
There are many native plants growing here,
and one of them is the Rangoon creeper,
whose vines trail everywhere,
and never leave the old house behind.
They are like the spirit of the house.
These old houses have been here for several decades,
worn out over time.
But, as we return,
they are once again connected to human activity,
enjoining us to return to a basic structure of life.
Thus, the vines are interwoven with the structure of the old houses,
inviting people into the space.
The vines and the old houses coexist,
echoing with the surrounding traditional architecture of the Dong pavilion.
This is not only a new home for the vines,
but also, a place for encounters and for people to communicate with each other.
and you’ll find that there are in fact more living creatures here,
sharing the space with us.
We walk along the trail,
crossing paths, the “terraced fields”.
“Re-space” invites you to bring along
your own experience;
