麦克纳马拉木材项目（2019-）

This walnut wood comes from trees planted in the 1940s on Sierra Orchards in California and was given to Danh Vo by the orchard’s owner and sustainable farming pioneer Craig McNamara. The two became friends after McNamara saw a work that Vo had made in 2013 after acquiring objects from the estate of his father, Robert S. McNamara, the former U.S. Secretary of Defense and principal architect of the Vietnam War and was moved by the manner in which he and Vo had led lives intimately intertwined with the legacy of the Vietnam conflict. At the time of their meeting, Danh Vo had started to engage with practices related to sustainability and wood working on a farm in Brandenburg, Germany. He has since included elements made of Sierra Orchards walnut wood in his installations and exhibitions, setting up a process of collaborative transformation of the wood that involves not only the skills of craftsmen but also the creativity of its future owners and keepers.

这里的胡桃木源自1940年代美国加利福尼亚州的塞拉果园，为果园主人克雷格·麦克纳马拉所赠。麦克纳马拉是可持续农业的先驱，系美国前国防部长、越战“总设计师”罗伯特·麦克纳马拉之子。傅丹曾购下他父亲的遗物，并于2013年创作了一系列作品。麦克纳马拉看后深受感动，他的生活也和越战有着同样紧密的联系，两人因此成为朋友。适逢傅丹在德国勃兰登堡州农场开展与可持续性农业和木工相关的实践，于是，傅丹开始在装置和展览中加入由塞拉果园的胡桃木制成的元素，通过融合木匠的技艺，以及未来木材使用和拥有者的创造性，共同建立起一个合作转化木材的过程。
